Lisa Abellera earned her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco and her BA in Strategic Management from Dominican University of CA. She is currently working on a collection of short fiction. Her stories often explore the afterlife of change or trauma. Her characters grapple with loss/grief, self-delusion, and issues with identity – of defining and redefining self – sometimes within the context of the immigrant or ethnic experience, where themes of acculturation, duality, discrimination, and alienation between parents and children arise.
In addition to being a writer and a VONA alum (’12), Lisa is the Creative Director of Reputation Books, the publishing imprint of Kimberley Cameron & Associates, where she is a literary agent. While she is not taking unsolicited submissions at this time, she accepts submissions pitched at writers conferences, online query contests, and Twitter pitch parties (#adpit, #kidpit, #dvpit, #pitmad, #sffpit, #writepit) which occur throughout the year.
